Christmas Ham (2008-01-02)
I made ham that I got online for Christmas using the recipe I saw on Good Eats. Well, not exactly the "recipe". I didn't jot down the ingredients amounts, but I remember the method which is to bake the ham covered at 250F for 2 hours or so (depending on the size of the ham), then slather it with mustard and brown sugar, spritz it with bourbon (I used whisky) and cover liberally with finely crushed ginger snap cookies. Bake uncovered for an hour at 350F.I had to stop mine after 35 minutes 'cause it was getting
burnt. The crust was pretty crunchy and sweet, which went well
with the salty ham. But I think cooking the covered ham for 2
hours was too long for mine which resulted in very dry meat. KL
liked the ham, I find it so-so.
We had personal sized apple tart for dessert. And THAT was very yum. I didn't take photos while I was making it, so I'll post the recipe in the future when I make it again.
